Fastline lighting solution outshines the rest

Fastline has set a new record in track lighting, installing 73,390 yards or 41.7 miles in just one weekend, on February 24 and 25. This is the equivalent distance of the entire Metropolitan tube line.
It was the third weekend in a row that the Fastline Lighting Solutions team surpassed its previous record. On the weekend of 18 and 19 February the team installed 71,660 yards (40.71 miles) of lighting, outshining the record set only a week earlier of 65,331 yards (37 miles).
The Lighting Solutions team has completed a total of around 2,400 separate lighting jobs in the current financial year, amounting to a grand total of 1,578,435 yards or 897 miles.
Fastline’s Managing Director Michael Houghton said: “Without the skills, dedication and ability of every member of the Lighting Solutions team, these fantastic results would not have been possible. I would like to thank everyone for their efforts.”
“Whilst lighting is principally used to ensure a safe working environment at weekends, the site survey, design, delivery and setting out of lighting and generators is a six day a week process. The logistics of designing, setting up, servicing and removing lighting requires considerable planning and organisation skills, along with a total commitment to delivering a first class service.”
Paul Price, Lighting Solutions Supervisor for the Nottingham depot, heads up Fastline’s busiest lighting depot. The lighting team currently has 36 members and averages 11.3 miles of lighting per week. In Manchester, Phil Shaw and his team normally provide around 9 miles of lighting a week. Other small plant depots have the capability to install lighting, albeit on a smaller scale.
Paul said: “Everyone in the team has played their part in the success. Specifically Stephen Clifft who organises the team to cover all the sites and deals with the frequent changes and access problems. Stephen’s role is often overlooked, but without his organisational skills and ability to respond to changes, the team would not be able to play such a big part in the success of Fastline Lighting Solutions.”
